Changed data in an embedded file but changes do not appear due to design.
Cause:
When files are embedded in a worksheet, the information in the file becomes part of the worksheet. The information is no longer connected or related to the file itself. Any changes made to the file are not reflected in the information embedded in the worksheet.
Solution:
Embedded objects do not reflect changes made to the original file. Try linking the files.
To link an existing file:
1) Select the cell in the upper-left corner of desired location.
2) Select the 'Insert' menu and select 'Object...'. (The Object dialog box appears.)
3) Click 'Create from File' tab.
4) Do one of the following:
a) Type the filename along with its path in the 'File Name' box.
b) Locate the information with the 'Browse...':
1] Click 'Browse...'. (The Browse dialog box appears.)
2] Select the drive where the source file is located in the 'Look in' dialog box. (All folders within the selected drive appear.)
3] Select the folder that contains the file. (The folder opens with its files and subfolders.)
4] If the file is located in a subfolder, select the subfolder.
NOTE: If necessary, repeat Step 4)b)4] until the source file is displayed.
5] Select the source file. (The file is highlighted.)
6] Click 'Insert'. (The name of the file and its path appear in the File Name box.)
5) Select the 'Link to File' check box.
Link to File check box
6) Click 'OK'.
